Bridge Legs

A Nod to the City’s Icons

Look up and you’ll see one of the most striking design elements of our hotel: the Bridge Legs. These are not just decorative pieces. They are replicas of the legs of the two iconic bridges that connect Halifax and Dartmouth: the Angus L. Macdonald and the A. Murray MacKay. The Bridge Legs were created by Simon Lacey, the same artist who made the Container Lion. They are made of real steel and weigh over 500 lbs each. They flank the back wall of the Lobby, creating a dramatic and impressive backdrop. The Bridge Legs are a nod to the city’s icons, and a reminder of the connection between the two sides of the harbour.
